NetCira Canada

NetCIRA - Network Commercial, Industrial & Residential Audio - is a new brand from the Fostex Company of Japan.

Offering practically packaged and easy to install products, NetCIRA brings network audio to a wide market and creates a new price/performance standard for the technology.

Ideally suited for both live and installed sound distribution due to its "real-time" behaviour, NetCIRA products are set to become a standard for audio distribution over Ethernet.

What's New

November 2009
NetCIRA I/O-2C

NetCira has introduced I/O-2C bi-directional analog mic/line I/O card. It is fully compliant with bi-directional audio transmission, offers the same functionality as an MS-8 + MI-2 analog input card and an MS-8 + SO-2 analog output card, but in only a single rack space.

The combination of the NetCira MS-88 with the I/O-2C can be used as input/output terminal with analog output / input for all live sound applications such as touring / gigs and installations.

October 2009
NetCIRA at Angus Glenn Golf Club Install

The Angus Glen Golf Club, host of the 2002 and 2007 “Canadian Open” recently underwent an install featuring NetCIRA, Wharfedale, QUAD and Surgex products. NetCIRA provided a great solution, allowing digital audio signals to pass a great distance with no interference. NetCIRA integrated seamlessly as an add-on to the previously existing install design and was an easy solution as the facility was already wired CAD. NetCIRA models used include the MS-8, MI-2, ES-2 and ES1-A

September 2006
NetCIRA I/O-1C Card For MC-88

NetCIRA by Fostex continues to expand and enhance distributed digital audio capabilities. The new I/O-1C option card for the MS-88 master/slave unit provides 8 channels of input simultaneously with 8 channels of output at up to 192kHz sampling rate in a single rack space. MS-88 + I/O-1C connects digital mics and mixing consoles using the D-SUB 25-pin AES/EBU input & output terminal for applications such as touring and installed sound. It can also connect with multichannel equipment used in broadcast stations. The MS-88 + I/O-1C combination is the best choice for people who want to minimize latency and signal loss brought by A-to-D and D-to-A conversion.

New ES6300: Connect Your Speakers With Ethernet

The eagerly anticipated ethernet speaker solution from NetCIRA by Fostex has arrived and is shipping! The NetCIRA ES6300 takes the perennial Fostex favourite monitor, the 6301B into the digital dimension, allowing for networked audio to this powered nearfield speaker enclosure, making it an ethernet receiver as well. This is accomplished by means of Digigram’s EtherSoundTM technology.

The ES6300 features a built-in D class power amplifier with 10W output. An additional analog input (phone jack) on the rear panel allows for instant analog source monitoring, while a headphone output on the rear panel increases flexibility. A switching power supply allows it to be used anywhere in the world.

AuviTran and NetCIRA provide core for Canadian’s audio networking

NetCIRA has launched new models to expand its range of networkable audio products. The MI-6C is a balanced analog Mic/Line input card for the MS8 unit. Being CPU based, the option card may be remotely controlled over the EtherSoundª network link with the help of a PC.

The ES6300 Powered Speaker Receiver is based on the Fostex classic 6301B model. It offers EtherSoundª compatibility in a newly engineered digitally amplified speaker package. The ES6300, in addition to the EtherSound interface, includes a headphone output, an analog input and a socket for the LR-1 remote control.

The SH-6, coaxial 2-way 6.5” ceiling speaker, has been developed by Fostexs reputed loudspeaker engineers for NetCIRA as well as general installation applications.

A bi-directional version of the MS-8, aptly named MS-88 accepts all option cards designed for the MS-8 while being able to encode/decode EtherSound channels in either direction (up or downstream) on a single 100TX Cat5 cable in a bi-directional EtherSound setup.

AuviTran AVY16-ESv2 Bi-directional EtherSound Card

The AVY16-ESv2 offers a full bi-directional transmission of up to 128 channels of audio (64 channel of audio in each direction) over a single Cat5 100TX cable/link. To cater for most of Yamahas YGDAI capable equipment, the AVY16-ESv2 cards with 16 channels In/Out, offer full network and local control of all channel assignments, constant network status monitoring and ultimate low propagation delay.

Tragically Hip NetCira

AuviTran and NetCIRA provide core for Canadian’s audio networking

Erikson Audio, Exclusive Canadian distributor of AuviTran and NetCIRA network audio products, has recently supplied 20 x NetCIRA MS-8 AES/EBU coders/encoders and 16 x AuviTran AVY-ES16 Yamaha compatible EtherSoundTM cards to Solotech of Montreal.

Solotech, a major rental and tour-sound company, has prepared 2 touring rigs using the supplied equipment. Each rig consists of 2 x Yamaha PM5D mixing consoles with 4 x AVY-16ES cards, giving 64 channels of digital I/O over CAT5 100TX Ethernet cabling/Network, plus 8 x NetCIRA MS-8 AES/EBU inputs, and 2 x NetCIRA MS-8 AES/EBU outputs. In addition, 8 x Yamaha AD8HR Mic/Line pre-amp units are used for collecting the analogue sources and feeding them into the EtherSoundTM network via the MS-8 AES/EBU encoders. All 64 channels of encoded audio then travel, via just 1 CAT5e cable, to the AVY-ES16 in the respective Yamaha PM5D’s.

The main criteria for SOLOTECH in evaluating their various digital options were audio quality, minimal network latency, and ease of installation/setup. After multiple tests of different technologies and configurations, Solotech found the NetCIRA/AuviTran solution had the best audio quality through the equipment-network link, and total combined system latency of only 2.8 ms (2.5 ms of this being attributed to the the consoles alone).

The first setup is currently on tour with renowned Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip, on their "In Between Evolution" North American tour (http://www.thehip.com/web/tour/index.php ). The second setup is in Las Vegas for "Havana Night Club – The Show”, a new Cuban music and dance show at the Stardust (http://www.havananightclub.com/). These two installations reinforce the viability of EtherSoundTM digital audio over the Ethernet for real life live sound applications.
